Executive Committee Agenda: 1st item: ARC sponsorship

OK, I know this is unorthodox, but no one could come up with conference calling and too many people couldn't make our regularly scheduled meeting, so I am now calling our first "virtual executive committe meeting" (and my last exec comm mtg as president!) to order. I will make a different posting for each agenda item. If you have input on a particular item, you can respond to it. Don't feel like you have to respond to each item if you don't have anything in particular to add. Let's try to wrap up responses by next Wednesday, April 16, so I can finalize our agenda for the April 18 meeting.

Our first agenda item: ARC sponsorship
Paul Campbell at IBNA has asked us to sponsor once again at the San Francisco ARC this July. The cost of the 'standard sponsorship' is $5000. (There is also a $10,000 level, but I think that is beyond our reach.) Once again, we will get an ad in the program, a mention at the sessions, a booth at the conference, and one complimentary registration.

I think the exposure for IBARMS is good and it does keep us up there (somewhat) with the FLIBS/TIBS/CIBO triumverate. The downside, obviously, is cost. This is a bit more expensive than last year's sponsorship, which was, I believe, $4500.

My initial vote is to approve the sponsorship. Please let me know thoughts on this issue.

I agree with Roger that sponsorship keeps us in the loop with IBNA and IB. It seems like we need to keep this relationship as open and friendly as possible and is cheaper than the Director's Circle. I have already registered for the conference so someone else can use the free registration is we approve this item. Dorsee
